A Short Introduction

I am a 41-year old step-mom of two amazing teens, which is my biggest blessing. I am also a college student endeavoring to obtain a Bachelors in English. I list these two items about myself first because both have everything to do with change and learning. But, I also list them together because they are both my greatest sources of joy and inspiration.

I am also a cat-mommy and a dog-mommy, and absolutely could not imagine life without animals. I have two cats, Charlie and Henry, and the sweetest little Maltese; his name is Gizmo but we lovingly call him Einstein because his hair is always hilarious, and he’s as dumb as a box of rocks. What he lacks in brains, though, he makes up for with irresistible goofy cuteness.

I was born and raised in the rural hills of Tennessee, lullabied by cicadas and frogs every night at bedtime. As a teen, I had big dreams and couldn’t wait to escape the small town. In my twenties, I lived in Albuquerque, N.M., and Philadelphia, P.A., but as uniquely magical as both cities are, I quickly learned I was definitely not a city girl.

So, I came home to my roots, and am again able to hear those frogs and cicadas every evening. The bright lights of a big city simply cannot compare to the bright stars strung across a country sky. It doesn’t get much better than that, in my opinion.

I began this blog because, well, I have a compulsion to write. I have no idea what shape this will take, and I think I like the fact that it will be rather organic. My hope is that someone will gain something from what has been written here, and maybe expound upon it a little and pass it on to someone else who needs to hear it.

Life is all about shared experiences, and truly appreciating what we have been given.
